  • ENERJISA OPENED ENERJISA BALIKESIR WIND POWER PLANT
  • BALIKESIR WPP, WHICH IS MADE UP OF 52 WIND TURBINES, EACH WITH A POWER OF 2.75 MW WILL GENERATE APPROXIMATELY 524 GWH OF ELECTRICITY ANNUALLY.
  • SABANCI HOLDİNG CHAIRMAN GÜLER SABANCI “ENERJISA’S INVESTMENTS INDICATE OUR RELIANCE ON TURKEY’S ELECTRICITY MARKET WILL REACH A MORE COMPETITIVE STRUCTURE.”
  • E.ON BOARD MEMBER JORGEN KILDAHL “INAUGURATION OF BALIKESİR WPP DEMONSTRATE THAT ENERJISA IS WORKING HARD TO MEET TURKEY’S RISING ENERGY DEMAND WITH CLIMATE-FRIENDLY TECHNOLOGY.”

Enerjisa, continue its path through Sabancı Holding and world’sleading energy expert, E.ON, puts Turkey’s biggest wind power plant, Balıkesir WPP with 143 MW installed capacity into operation. Balıkesir WPP will generate 524 GWh of electricity, which is the third wind power plant being put into operation by Enerjisa, following Çanakkale and Dağpazarı WPP’s. Balıkesir WPP is built with a €135 million syndicated loan arranged by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Inauguration ceremony of Balıkesir WPP, which is made up of 52 wind turbines, each with a power of 2.75 MW using General Electric technology, has been held with participation of Energy and Natural Resources Minister Mr. Taner Yıldız, Sabancı Holding Chairman Ms. Güler Sabancı and E.ON Board Member Jorgen Kildahl.

Sabancı Holding Chairman Güler Sabancı stated that “We place great importance to bringing local and renewable resources into economy. Together with Balıkesir WPP, we have increased our wind power installed capacity to 212 MW after Çanakkale and Dağpazarı wind power plants. Enerjisa has invested 11 billion USD in total. Enerjisa’s investments indicate our reliance on Turkey’s electricity market will reach a more competitive structure.”

Jorgen Kildahl, E.ON Board Member, stated that Turkish market has a significant importance for them and continued as “This is a momentous and exciting day for E.ON. It’s the first time since our partnership became official that we’ve joined Sabancı Holding at the inauguration of one of Enerjisa’s new wind farms. And it’s particularly exciting because Balıkesir WPP is the biggest in Turkey. Inauguration of Balıkesir WPP demonstrate that Enerjisa is working hard to meet Turkey’s rising energy demand with climate-friendly technology. Balıkesir WPP is also another important milestone along Enerjisa’s path toward building up to 7.5 gigawatts of generating capacity by 2020.”

Along with Sabancı Holding and E.ON partnership; the new term targets of Enerjisa are defined as being a regional power aiming to have 7,500 MW installed capacity  and to serve over 6 million distribution customers by 2020. Moreover, as a market player in the natural gas sector, Enerjisa will also add natural gas import and trading activities to its business portfolio.
