Guler Sabancı, Chairman of Sabancı Holding, became a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT) which brings chief executives and chairmen of major multinational companies of European parentage together in order to shape European policies.
Guler Sabancı is the first female member of the ERT since its foundation in 1983.
The ERT was founded for creating policy alternatives that will streghten European industry, increase employment and income levels. It examines studies of the European Commission and contributes to these studies when necessary.
Chaired by Jorma Ollila, Chirman of Nokia, the ERT, examines a wide range of policy issues important to European business and competition, by drawing on the experience of its Members. The ERT presents its ideas both in written form and in direct discussions with governments, the European Commission and other decision- making bodies.
The previous representative of Turkish business community in the ERT was Jak Kamhi while Chairman of Eczacibasi Holding, Bulent Eczacibasi is currently a member.

The combined sales of the companies of ERT Members to EU customers exceeds Euro 1 000 billion, thereby sustaining around 6.6 million jobs in the region. Companies of ERT Members are among the world giants such as Nokia, Unilever, Nestle, Bayer and British Airways. ERT Members meet twice a year. Individuals join at the personal invitation of existing ERT Members.
