The Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Sabancı University, Güler Sabancı has been granted an Honorary PhD by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Council of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University has announced the decision to grant Güler Sabancı with Honorary PhD due to her social contribution and success.
The Honorary PhD title will be awarded to Güler Sabancı by Prof. Timothy Tong, the President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, at a ceremony in Hong Kong in the next October.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is regarded a global leader within the context of industry-university collaboration. The university has also a prominent place in the fields of applied research, innovation, and technology.
Prof. Chung K. Law, from Princeton University, TAL Group President Prof. Harry Lee, Prof. Xie Heping from Sichuan University and designer Kan Tai-Keung are among the privileged individuals who have been awarded honorary PhD by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Güler Sabancı is a holder of many awards including Spain's highest order of merit “Encomienda De Numero”, French “Legion d’Honneur” order, as well as Clinton Global Citizen Award, Raymond Georis Prize for Innovative Philanthropy, Schumpeter Prize and the Responsible Leadership Award granted by the European School of Management and Technology. In 2011, she was named 2nd on the Financial Times’ list of the Top 50 Women in World Business.
