The Picasso Exhibition will be displayed at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum of the Sabancı University from Nov. 21, 2005 through March 25, 2006. The 135 works in various mediums by Picasso, one of the most significant artists of the 20th century, embrace all periods of the artist, who led a long life submerged in art. The exhibition consists of works on loan from the Paris and Barcelona Picasso museums and also an unprecedented collection the artist kept to himself all his life and bequeathed to his family; this collection has not been exhibited anywhere before.

Pablo Picasso's grandson Bernard Picasso, who recently visited İstanbul, stated that with its large halls, technical facilities and professional staff, the Sakıp Sabancı Museum has become a world museum of international standards and that he is very happy to share the cultural heritage bequeathed by his grandfather with art lovers in İstanbul. Bernard Picasso praised Sabancı Group on its contributions on social sensitivity and responsibility adding that Sabancı’s humanistic approach affected his decision to bring the Picasso exhibition to .

Güler Sabancı stated that having an exhibition of Pablo Picasso’s collection  for the first time in , has been a very important and proud accomplishment for Sakıp Sabancı Museum which aims to be  a world museum. “Like in all other fields that we are in, we also strive to make a difference in the field of art. This is both Sabancı Group’s and ’s accomplishment.” added Güler Sabancı.

The exhibition will be open to visitors between November 21, 2005 and March 26, 2006. The catalog that is compiled for the exhibition will include writings from John Richardson, Marilyn McCully, and Michael Leiris who are widely-known for their biographic works on Picasso. Also on display at the four-month exhibit will be private correspondence of Picasso, a selection from his family albums, and photographs taken by international photographers. Throughout the stay of the exhibition, documentary movies and conferences will also be organized accompanying the works on display.


The grandson of world-famous painter Pablo Picasso and his first wife Olga Kokhlova, Bernard Ruiz Picasso, born in 1958, is still the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Museo Picasso in Malaga, . In addition to that, he is the owner and manager of the “Images Modernes”, an institute that prepare art books and catalogs.







Bernand Picasso is also the founder of the “Fundacion Almine & Bernard Ruiz-Picasso Para el Arte” foundation with his wife Almine Reche who owns a renowned contemporary art gallery. Introducing Pablo Picasso’s art to the world, supporting contemporary artists, carrying out researches to improve security systems for preservation of paintings and arranging Picasso exhibitions are among many goals of the foundation.
