- THE APPLICATION PROCESS HAS BEGUN FOR ONE YOUNG WORLD 2011, THE WORLD'S LARGEST YOUTH MEETING
Sabancı Holding will take a group of Turkish young people to "One Young World", the world's largest youth meeting, which will be held in Zurich from 1-4 September. The participation costs of the fifteen young people who qualify will be covered by Sabancı Holding. For participation, the three-step selection process consists of a video application, the writing of an article and finally an interview. Those young people who wish to participate should send a one-minute video, in English, in which they present their own recommendations for the solution of the world's problems, to facebook.com/Sabancıholding. After assessments, the fifteen young people who have best met the requirements will represent Turkey in Zurich. This year, over 1,500 young people are expected to attend One Young World, alongside figures such as Kofi Annan, Sir Bob Geldof, Mohammed Yunus and Sabancı Holding's Chairman Güler Sabancı.
The applications for 2011's One Young World Summit are open until the 6th of May.
Only young people who were born in 1993 or after can apply for the One Young World Summit. They are expected to be capable of teamwork, to have leadership potential, to have an interest in global issues and to have participated in voluntary activities.
The Summit is organized for the world's young people so that they can express and give voice to their views and solutions in front of the states, the business world and general public opinion. The summit was held in London last year with the participation of some of the world's leading figures such as Sir Bob Geldof, Kofi Annan and Mohammed Yunus. At last year's summit, various issues brought up through the "Global Consultation Process" research program were deemed necessary to be handled immediately on a global platform. The topics were discussed for two days. From Turkey, Sabancı Holding provided for 15 young peoples' participation in the summit at which youth from all of the world's nations were represented in proportion to their population, for a total participation of over 1000 young people. The summit is known as "the Young Davos".
