Acting with an environmentally responsible and sustainability mentality in each industry they engage in, Sabancı Holding has released their second sustainability report analyzing the sustainability performance in activities and projects they have conducted in the period of January 1st - December 31st, 2015. This report, unlike that of the last year, was prepared on a GRI G4 Core level, based on the GRI Principles. The report also includes the non-financial performance statements of the Holding and the Group Companies.

Sabancı Holding performs its activities pursuant to international standards in consideration of the UN Women's Empowerment Principles, Equality at Work Platform Principles, and the UN Global Compact that the Holding is a signatory. Preparing the report on GRI reporting standard reflects this global business mindset of the Group. The report both demonstrates the sustainability approach of Sabancı Holding and reflects the transparent and accountable management mentality of the Group.

Zafer Kurtul, the CEO of Sabancı Holding, expressed that the strategic approach of Sabancı Holding is to manage every task they handle excellently and build the future in a way that will provide advantages in the long term and said the following about the understanding of the sustainability of the Group: "The invariable part of all our business processes is to take steps to guarantee sustainability. We have a management approach that remains close to the public with its mindset of social responsibility, respects the human being and environment, and encourages participation and common sense in decision making processes. We have carried out our activities in line with our corporate governance principles and the UN Global Compact of which we are a signatory since 2007. Our employees are the ones that enable this success, we, as Sabancı Group, have achieved. Our employees are at the heart of the sustainability of our business. We will maintain investing in the development of our employees and the applications which can improve their competency to take this success much further. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone and in particular to our employees, customers, business partners and shareholders who enrich us with their valuable contributions."

The issues, which are determined as the sustainability priorities of Sabancı Group, such as energy and emission management, waste and water management, employee training and development, community development support, occupational health and safety, diversity and equality at work, and efficient use of natural resources, underlie the reporting study. Performances related to these issues are shared as part of the report. The report prepared on voluntary basis will be used as a source for future sustainability studies.

This report, which evaluates the Holding collectively with a holistic approach as well as being the proprietary reporting that the Group companies can assess their own sustainability performance, is especially important for demonstrating the consolidated performance of the companies operating in different industries. The report provides a basis to see the performance of all Holding companies collectively and comparatively, determine the preferential and potential areas in terms of sustainability, and develop future-oriented strategies.
