- SABANCI HOLDING CHAIRMAN GÜLER SABANCI: "ALL WOMEN, SHOULD BE PROUD THAT SUCH AN EXTREMELY EXPERIENCED WOMAN AS CHRISTINE LAGARDE IS A CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION OF THE IMF'S MANAGING DIRECTOR"
Sabancı Holding's Chairman Güler Sabancı said that she is very positive about the French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde throwing her hat in the ring for the job of the IMF's Managing Director.
Güler Sabancı made the following statement on this issue:
"While the IMF electors of the IMF's member countries' governments may think differently, I see it as an opportunity for women worldwide that the French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, with whom I have talked to many times in recent years and with whom I share a number of important ideas, is a candidate for IMF's Managing Director position.
I hope that this opportunity is seized. I am proud that an extremely experienced and intellectual woman, the esteemed Lagarde, is standing as a candidate for the role of the IMF's Managing Director. If she is appointed, then this will be a chance for women to have a voice in international organizations at the management level.
Furthermore, probably for the first time, the election for the IMF Managing Director election will be held solely on personal merit. At this point, I do believe that someone like the esteemed Lagarde, who has demonstrated her abilities, will execute her duties successfully. Today it the hope of both developing and developed countries that a woman such as Christine Lagarde will become the IMF's Managing Director.
