- THE "ONE YOUNG WORLD" RESOLUTION HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED
- FROM THE PARTICIPANTS OF "ONE YOUNG WORLD" TO ALL WORLD LEADERS: "WE CALL UPON OUR POLITICAL LEADERS TO MAKE CLEAR THEIR STANCE ON HUMANITARIAN ISSUES BEFORE WE CONSIDER OUR SUPPORT FOR THEM."
- FROM THE PARTICIPANTS OF "ONE YOUNG WORLD" TO THE WORLD MEDIA: "WE CALL UPON THE MEDIA TO USE ITS INFLUENCE AND POWER TO HELP PROTECT TRUTH AND PERSONAL FREEDOM."
The resolution, based on the views of the young people who participated in the "One Young World" Summit, has been announced. The Summit was held from 8 - 10th February 2010 in London, Sabancı Holding being the official sponsor of the Turkish delegation. The resolution expresses the expectations of almost 1000 young people from all over the world on the subjects of "developing a new sense of political leadership for a better future", "global business and its contribution to the development of the economic future of society", "interfaith dialogue", "environmental issues", "the changing identity and power of the media", and "health". There were 15 Turkish young people among the delegates participating in and sharing their opinions at the Summit.
During drafting, evaluating and voting on the "One Young World" resolution, delegates were guided by the counselors. Among the counselors were important activists as Sir Bob Geldof and Oscar Morales, as well as Nobel Laureates Kofi Annan, Mohammad Yunus and Desmond Tutu.
Sabancı Holding provided for the participation of the fifteen Turkish youngsters in the first "One Young World" Summit, and is planning on continuing its support in the future.
"ONE YOUNG WORLD" RESOLUTION
- Developing Leadership for a Positive Future
In the belief that upholding human rights is essential:
we call upon our political leaders to make clear their stance on humanitarian issues before we consider our support for them.
- Global Business and its Role in Shaping Society
In the belief that multinational corporations have a fundamental responsibility to behave ethically:
we call upon global businesses to define and act on their role in the fight against poverty.
- Media - Its Changing Identity and Power
In the belief that freedom of speech is promotes a successful society: we call upon the media to use its influence and power to help protect truth and personal freedom.
- Protection of the Environment
In the belief that climate change will seriously affect future generations:
we call upon governments to take more deliberate, legislative action to help guarantee that appropriate carbon emissions reduction targets are both agreed to and met by 2020.
- The Global Health Agenda
In the belief that all humans have the right to healthcare and nutrition:
we call upon businesses, governments and civil society to work together more effectively to prioritize the spreading information about and the providing of access to good healthcare and nutrition.
- Interfaith Dialogue
In the belief that war must never be carried out in the name of religion:
we call upon leaders and followers of all faiths to unequivocally commit to deliver peace amongst nations, races and creeds.
About One Young World
One Young World aimed to let world youth under the age of 25 present their opinions, offer solutions and to make their voices heard on international issues such as the environment, health and education. At the Summit young people focused on topics that had been proposed by a "Global Consultation Process" research effort that had spanned 70 countries; issues that they think need to be dealt with on a global platform immediately. Six issues were selected:
- Developing a new sense of political leadership for a better future
- Global business and its contribution to the development of the economic future of society
- Interfaith dialogue
- Environmental issues
- The changing identity and power of the media
- Health
These topics were discussed in six main sessions.
During drafting, evaluating and voting of the One Young World resolution, delegates were guided by counselors.

For the first time, at One Young World, countries were represented in proportion to their populations in a global meeting. The delegates were selected from among young people who were born in or after the year 1984, who had displayed leadership potential and who were active in the business world, education, media, politics, health, religion, environment, agriculture and/or technology, and in voluntary work.
