Akçansa received the blue ribbon in the 7th Sabancı Gold Collar Awards

The Sabancı Group organised the 7th Sabancı Gold Collar Awards Ceremony, which is intended for rewarding the achievements of its companies and employees and encouraging mutual sharing of best practices in the Sabancı Centre. Presented by Cem Davran, the award ceremony was participated in by Ms. Güler Sabancı, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabancı Holding, Mr. Zafer Kurtul, the CEO, and Ms. Neriman Ülsever, the President of the Human Resources Group, as well as the executives and employees of the Group.

In the ceremony which has been organised since 2009, the companies of the Sabancı Group competed again to receive an award in 8 different categories. Akçansa ranked first in the category of Value Creation, the blue ribbon. Akçansa also received an award in the category of Equality at Work whereas Kordsa Global and Temsa Global teams ranked first in the category of Synergy. Yünsa ranked first in the category of Efficiency and Aksigorta was deemed worthy of an award in the category of Digitalisation, which was included last year. For the Market Orientation award, Akçansa was the first in the Individual Sub-Category and Brisa was the first in the Corporate Sub-Category. Kordsa Global received the first prize in the category of Investment in People and it ranked the first also in the category of Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship.

The opening speech of the ceremony was made by Ms. Güler Sabancı, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabancı Holding. Her speech is as follows, “In 2009, the world was undergoing a very serious crisis. The Gold Collar was launched in that period with the understanding of self-direction, discovery of the inner power, gaining strength and learning from each other and reached to its current position with all your contributions. It is exciting for me to see you every year and share the results of your efforts for the whole year altogether. Tonight is marvellous, because there is no loser. Tonight, we will win more, proceed further, become more successful and know each other better altogether as the Sabancı Group. For this reason, it is an exciting and joyful night. I am very glad that the Digitalisation category has also been included in this process because the ones who will make progress in the world we are living in will be those who better understand the effect and value of digitalisation. The main point of this process is to be “us”. We are finalising this process together today, which makes us feel the privilege of being us and in which we create value altogether, look for the better all the time and have more winners every passing year.”

Mr. Zafer Kurtul, the CEO of Sabancı Holding, also made a speech in the ceremony and asserted, “Sabancı Gold Collar is a perfect project for learning from each other. We all took pride when the projects in the Gold Collar were introduced to us. I see that we are learning a lot from each other thanks to this project. Of course, communication is highly important in learning. Continuance of this communication makes a great contribution to this process. We have eight categories in the Gold Collar. We included Digitalisation last year. This is also an important area. Regardless of our industry, the company we are working in and the job we are doing, digitalisation provides an important competitive advantage. Very critical and interesting projects become a candidate in this respect.”

Ms. Neriman Ülsever, the President of the Human Resources Group of Sabancı Holding, stated the following in her speech during the ceremony, “The Gold Collar is from Sabancı, it belongs to Sabancı and has been created by Sabancı in all aspects. It is a process which has been and will be sustained by Sabancı. The Gold Collar was born 7 years ago. It was a baby, it was crawling; today, we have a school kid at the age of 7. As the teams and employees of the Sabancı Group and the members of this family, we know that you are working day and night. We are from Sabancı and we are proud of it. Being from Sabancı involves core values and beyond that, some indispensable elements such as being innovative, curious and explorative, doing the job passionately and trying the better bravely and showing courage. Thanks to your infinite energy, curiosity, passion for being better and courage, the Gold Collar Awards ceremony is a true feast this year, just like every year. I am saying that God bless your heart, ideas and efforts. Tonight is the moment when we crown the Gold Collar process. But be sure that we are working for the whole year backstage by sharing willingly and cooperating with each other. Our 13 companies participated in the Value Creation category this year. 18 projects became candidates in the Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship category. There were 11 companies of ours in the Equality at Work category. 8 companies introduced 11 projects in the Market Orientation category. 10 companies of ours became candidate in the Investment in People category. In the Digitalisation category, on the other hand, we had 19 projects from 10 companies. Our 13 projects competed in the Efficiency category and 4 projects competed in the Synergy category. The number of projects participating in the competition increases every year and the quality and scope of the projects change as well. It shows a breath-taking change and depth. Even though the evaluation juries have difficulties in deciding every year, it was much more difficult this year. The Gold Collar Awards are not a daily but a long term programme. It will exist jointly with Sabancı and as long as Sabancı exists. Each award is intended for reminding you of your contributions in all aspects with your projects and they will be a glimmer and an inspiration in terms of new projects for all of us.”
