Masked Heroes at Work!
As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeps the world, leaving anxiety and lost lives in its wake, it has become crucially important to abide by measures such as hygiene and correct mask wearing to slow down the spread. Commenting that correct mask use is of vital importance in the fight against the pandemic, internal diseases specialist Dr. M. Nafiz Karagözoğlu said, “What matters more than wearing a mask during pandemic times like these is ‘correct mask use’”.
Highlighting their goal of raising awareness in society regarding this issue, Dr. Karagözoğlu gave the message, “It is not enough to wear a mask. Wear it correctly to keep yourself and those around you safe” in an animated film created with support by the Sabancı Group. Dr. Karagözoğlu underlined the importance of washing hands for at least 20 seconds before putting a mask on, as well as after taking it off.
Once the used mask is taken off, it is important to keep it at a distance from our face while disposing of it, said Dr. Karagöz. “Throwing used masks on the ground is a hazard for community and family health and is thus unacceptable. Each used mask must be carefully disposed of into a trash can. Otherwise, it will cause the virus to spread and endanger others,” he warned.
Pointing out the importance for everyone between the ages of 7 to 70 wearing a mask, Dr. Nafiz Karagözoğlu said, “Remember; you are a masked hero,” as a motto intended to contribute to social awareness.
