Ms. Güler Sabancı is the only Turkish woman among the World’s Most Powerful Women

One of the leading business publications of the world, Forbes, announced the List of the Top 100 World’s Most Powerful Women. The only figure included in the list from Turkey was Ms. Güler Sabancıi the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabancı Holding. Ms. Sabancı moved up 12 places in the list and became the 58th most powerful woman.

The magazine highlighted, in its statement introducing Ms. Güler Sabancı, that she was the first woman who had managed the Group and that she was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sabancı University and the president of the largest private foundation in Turkey.

The ranking in the list, which has been announced for the 14th time by Forbes, is made on the basis of financial strength (corporate value, profitability), media visibility and the effect produced in all areas from business life to civil society, from policy to technology. Ms. Angela Merkel, the Prime Minister of Germany ranks 1st in the list whereas Mrs. Theresa May, the Prime Minister of England, ranks 2nd, Ms. Christine Legarde, the President of the IMF, ranks 8th, Ms. Michelle Bachelet, the Head of the State of Chile, ranks 16th and Mrs. Hillary Clinton ranks 65th.
