Sabancı’s Oscars were given for the 10th time and Enerjisa Energy won the Blue Ribbon
Ms. Güler Sabancı, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabancı Holding:
“The Gold Collar Award Programme is the best example of our success in developing ‘Authentic Models’ with our long-term perspective.”
The 10th of the Sabancı Gold Collar Award Ceremonies, which was organised to reward the achievements of the companies and employees of the Sabancı Group and encourage mutual sharing of best practices was held at the Sabancı Centre with the participation of Ms. Güler Sabancı, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabancı Holding, Mr. Mehmet Göçmen, the CEO of Sabancı Holding, the board members, Group directors and employees. The award ceremony was presented by Yetkin Dikinciler and Doğa Rutkay.
During the project which was implemented for the first time in 2009, the companies in the Sabancı Group competed in five different categories to receive the award this year. Enerjisa Enerji ranked first in the Sabancı of the New Generation category, which was the blue-ribbon category, with its Young Advisory Board Project. Enerjisa Üretim received the award in the Digitalisation category with its El Dispatcho Project and the winner of the Innovation category was the L200 Crawler Project of Temsa Motorlu Araçlar. The winner of Customer Experience category, was Brisa IETT with its Pay per Distance Project and Kordsa Polimer was granted an award in the Lean Transformation and Continuous Development category with its Polymer Recycling Project.
Undertaking the opening speech of the ceremony, Ms. Güler Sabancı, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sabancı Holding, reported, “The Sabancı Group has a background of over 90 years. The identity and culture of long-established companies like us become stronger with their core values and customs. The Gold Collar Programme, the 10th of which was celebrated, has become an important part of our culture over the years. The Gold Collar Award Programme is the best example of our success in developing “authentic models” with our perspective in the long run. It makes me very pleased to witness that you are sustaining this journey with the same passion and excitement, despite the passing years. The spirit of the Gold Collar Programme originates from our approach to gain strength from unity, learn from each other, be open to continuous change and face towards the future. Today, we have reached to a highly successful point because you embraced this spirit and adopted the essence of the programme requiring “sharing and learning together”. Over 800 projects have been completed since the beginning of the programme. About 150 awards were given out. The keywords of the current period are “changing” and “transforming”. For this reason, one of the strongest aspects of the Gold Collar Programme is that it is a model that can renew itself according to the needs of the time. The awarded categories have changed over the years and they were shaped in line with the needs of the “future” and our Group, to catch hold of the future. In this way, our award programme became a reflection of our Group’s transformation. Our categories were rearranged this year and became more participative. Our online jury of 450 people performed pre-selections. The winners among 16 finalist projects were designated by the participants of the ceremony. Moreover, I am very glad to support two important projects through the Sabancı Foundation as an award. I find this very meaningful because it not only gives a more permanent meaning to our programme but also it accords very well with us. There will of course be awardees tonight; however, we and the whole Sabancı Group are the ultimate winners. Look ahead all the time. Never give up learning and creating together.”
Mr. Mehmet Göçmen, the CEO of Sabancı Holding, noted, “We started out this journey 10 years ago based on the vision of Ms. Güler Sabancı. We started the project to reflect the challenging spirit of Sabancı to the field, in a difficult period when the world was struggling with a crisis. If we are able to act as a world leader in all industries and create the best models, this difference will be made by our employees and the importance we attach to human resources investment as Sabancı Holding. The basis value is human. This year, we are also undergoing the process of taking important steps for our new strategy. We acquired Bunol a couple of months ago. We included Çimsa in the global category of companies creating great value in white cement. Kordsa has been making efforts to create a new generation Kordsa since last year. We acquired very critical factories. Each field we have penetrated into is a challenging industry on the grounds that they are in a very strategic sector and based on the aircraft industry. We successfully overcame these and we figured out in this process that Sabancı is an organisation with a great reputation in the world. We made one of the most important public offering in the history of the Republic of Turkey in Enerjisa Enerji. The companies of Enerjisa Üretim stand upright before us as an energy company which settled and paid off its debt in Turkey without any foreign currency risk. We won two regions in the 1000 MG YEKA, one of the most important tenders of Turkey in renewable wind energy, 2 to 3 weeks ago, and thus obtained good growth potential for Enerjisa Üretim. We renewed the brand of our company, which had been operating under the trade name of Bimsa for years, and converted it into the flagship of Sabancı, in new digital technology and data analytics, as SabancıDx. At the time as all of these activities, the achievement of cultural transformation is our priority. We must adapt ourselves, our business methods, operations, processes and reflexes to the new generation and ensure cultural transformation. Our five core values originating from our essence for over 90 years, are sincerity, courage, passion, continuous development and engagement. All these values make up the culture of Sabancı.”
Mr. Hakan Timur, the President of the HR Group of Sabancı Holding, made the following statements in his speech, “Sustainability and continuity are very important in all actions we take. Going about a task, being first and breaking new ground are very precious and special. However, if you can maintain these over the years and even improve them further, this is exactly what Sabancı does. In this sense, I consider that the Gold Collar Programme, which has been ongoing for 10 years is the best example of this.”
